About CAS

Chhattisgarh Agricon Samiti is a non-governmental organization, registered in 2007 under the Societies Registration Act (1973). Over the years, we have touched the lives of over 1 million people across 16 districts of Chhattisgarh.

Nearly three-fourths of the families CAS works with belong to Scheduled Tribes. CAS is continuously expanding its activities across different areas of Chhattisgarh.

Focusing on the overall quality of life of the beneficiaries, CAS extensively intervenes on major themes such as Sustainable Agriculture and allied livelihood, Environment and Ecosystem and Community Mental health & Psychosocial Support.

CAS harnesses the power of more than 10,000 youth volunteers across CG; local level influencers; and Information, communication & Technology methods to effectively implement all its projects and programs. Many of our interventions are backed by the concepts of social behavioral change communication.

Our mission focuses on reducing inequalities and promoting social inclusion, with measurable outcomes in nutrition, health, and psychosocial well-being. We are committed to fostering a culture of peace and diversity, contributing significantly to the upliftment of marginalized groups, gender equality, and child safety.

Executive Committee

As a seasoned food technologist and the CEO of Sunflag Agrotech Pvt. Ltd and other Agro based organizations, Mr. Rajnish Awasthi brings invaluable agro-business acumen to Chhattisgarh Agricon Samiti. With over 30 years of leadership experience, he guides the organization towards sustainable development, rural micro entrepreneurship, livelihood, and inclusive growth.

Retired from the post of Assistant Professor Geology, Mr. Pradeep Singh Gour has been the member of various boards such as C.G. state biodiversity action plan, Institute of Sciences planning board, and the coordinator of C.G. state e-learning project, and the board of studies across various universities in Chhattisgarh.  

Drawing from his extensive 42-year teaching career and various board memberships, Mr. Pradeep Singh Gour provides a wealth of knowledge and strategic insight to the organization. His expertise in geology, coupled with his roles in biodiversity action plans and e-learning projects, contributes significantly to the diverse perspectives within the leadership team. 

An Agriculture expert with more than 30 years of experience in the industry. With long-term experience at a nationalized bank, and considerable experience in leading agro-based businesses. His financial acumen and understanding of agro-based businesses ensure the organization’s fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth. 

Dental Surgeon by profession, Dr. Niti Jha, brings a unique perspective with her understanding of health, Dr. Niti Jha contributes to the organization’s holistic approach to development. Her diverse skill set enriches the committee, fostering a comprehensive understanding of health-related issues including mental health and psychosocial support in rural and tribal areas. 

Entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience in the IT industry, leading Crescive Technologies Pvt Ltd. Mr. Khandelwal’s journey has been marked by diverse roles, including consulting, and freelancing for various organizations, and a current engagement with UNDP. His expertise also extends across development sector projects, blending technological innovation with practical solutions. 

His passions include education, technology, and travel. As a member of the executive committee, he brings forth a blend of professional experience and personal interests, and adds a technological and innovative dimension, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of our team. 

A practicing advocate with a strong legal background, Adv. Shourya Abhinandan Thakur enhances the committee’s ability to navigate legal complexities. 

Advt. Thakur is a law graduate from HNLU, Raipur and has been an intern and worked for some of the most prestigious lawyers and law firms in the country. 

His experience in the various law firms and chambers of prestigious lawyers along with his experience in the district and high courts of Chhattisgarh brings a legal perspective that ensures the organization operates within the bounds of the law. 

With over 14 years of experience in the agribusiness sector, Mr. Manas Banerjee has a strong track record of managing dealership, sales, and service of various agricultural products and technologies, such as tractors, tillers, irrigation systems, tissue culture plants, and grafted vegetable seedlings. Mr. Banerjee leads a social enterprise that provides innovative and sustainable solutions for farmers and agroproducers. 

He is passionate about empowering farmers and improving their livelihoods through establishing farmer producer companies, creating backward and forward linkages, and enhancing supply chain management. He leverages his data analysis, GIS, and CRM skills amongst other skills to optimize business processes, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks.  

His life experiences and understanding of the nuances of mental health support derived from his observations in life, and in-depth knowledge of the use of SBC tools have led to the diversification and inclusion of different thematic of work in the organization apart form agriculture and ecosystem.  

Mr. Manas Banerjee takes on a pivotal role as the secretary. His experience in managing various domains, coupled with his passion for empowering families, positions him as a driving force behind the organization’s vision and mission.

Mr. Manas Banerjee

Our Presence

The Head office team of CAS supports all the programs running across Chhattisgarh, monitor them, maintain all data, and records and does much more.  
– This is the center for strategizing, planning, ideating, proposing, and running the whole organization and its work.  
– From statutory and financial compliances to vision, mission and all the communication, it all happens in the state capital of Raipur.  

– The work of CAS extends to all blocks of the districts with several projects over the years. 

– We mentor the volunteer group “Yuvoday: Manobal – Bilaspur” in the district wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors with special focus on Mental health awareness. 

– We implement our Community Mental Health program: “Aao Baat Kare”, SEL based initiatives and provide Psychosocial support services to those in need in some selected villages. 

– We have done extensive work on Rural livelihood, sustainable agriculture, and natural resource management in the district previously.  

The work of CAS extends to some of the blocks of the districts and our presence is relatively new to this district. 
– We mentor a volunteer group named ‘Yuvoday Durg Ke Doot’ in Durg wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors. 
– We also implement our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based initiatives in different schools in the district along with campaigns on child safety and child rights. 

The work of CAS extends to some of the blocks of the districts and our presence is relatively new to this district. 
We mentor a volunteer group named ‘Yuvoday Hasdeo Ke Hero’ in Janjgir Champa wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors. 
– We also implement our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based initiatives in different schools in the district along with campaigns on child safety and child rights.

Even though our presence in the Kabirdham district of C.G. is relatively new, our bond with the local community feels as though it has been established for many years. 
We mentor one volunteer group named – KAVIR – Kabirdham volunteers for Inclusion & Resilience wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors with special focus on environment & ecosystem. 
– We also support a farmer group named ‘Kavir Kisan’ with whom we implement our individualized and extensive landscape restoration activities and interventions.  
– The work of CAS extends to all blocks of the districts, however rigorous interventions are limited to certain selected areas. 

– The work of CAS extends to some of the blocks of the districts with several projects over the years. 
– Currently, we mentor a volunteer group named ‘Yuvoday Kondanar Champs’ in Kondagaon wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors and enable us to implement the community mental health program “Aao Baat Kare” 
– We also implement our Social Emotional Learning(SEL) based initiatives in different schools in the district along with campaigns on child safety and child rights. 
Kondagaon has become the model district to showcase our work on community mental health and SEL based child development, as it has hosted development professionals from across the country and many from different countries. 

One of the founding members of CAS Mr, Shirvastav has worked in Bijapur for several years and therefore CAS has implemented several horticulture-based projects in the district.  
– The work of CAS extends to some of the blocks of the districts with several projects over the years. 
Currently, we mentor a volunteer group named ‘Bija Dutir’ in Bijapur wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors and enable us to implement the community mental health program “Aao Baat Kare” 
– We also implement our Social Emotional Learning(SEL) based initiatives in different schools in the district including several portacabins.

CAS has a special bond with Bastar and its people. The work of CAS extends to all blocks of the districts with several projects over the years. 
We mentor two volunteer groups in the district Yuvoday and Yuvoday: Van Mitan wherein volunteers perform activities aligned with bringing changes in certain pre-selected social behaviors. 
We also implement our Community Mental Health program: Aao Baat Kare, SEL based initiatives and provide Psychosocial support services to those in need in some selected villages. 
– We have done extensive work on Rural livelihood, sustainable agriculture, and natural resource management in the district previously.
