Introduction
In the heart of Bastar, a region known for its rich cultural heritage and bountiful landscapes, there lies a story of hope and resilience. Among the rolling hills and dense forests, 200 dedicated farmers formed a Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) under the WADI Project, united by a common dream: to transform their lives through cashew processing.
Before the pandemic, this FPO was a beacon of prosperity. By processing their own cashews, these farmers were able to secure better prices, ensuring a stable income and a brighter future for their families. The machinery was set up, the capital was invested, and the community thrived on the fruits of their labor.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic struck a devastating blow. The FPO, once a thriving hub of activity and hope, became non-operational. The farmers, who had already invested so much, found themselves unable to reinvest to restart their business. The machinery lay idle, and the dreams of these hardworking farmers began to fade.
The Vision
We aim to revive this FPO and bring it back to life, restoring hope and economic stability to 200 farmers in Bastar. The cashew trees continue to produce, and the machinery is ready to function. All we need is the operational cost to kickstart this venture once again.
